Relieving Feelings of Shame

I would say feelings of shame are mostly present in women seen in psychotherapy.  Many of us have felt shame since childhood.  When experiences of past trauma linger into adulthood our development may have come to an abrupt halt.  This explains why many women become adults but behave similar to adolescents.  For example, if a woman is forty years of age and her behavior indicates she is eighteen shame from trauma is likely present.

How do we move forward from arrested development?  Depending on who you ask the answers may vary.  It is my belief that therapy is the most effective way to move forward.  At least to begin the process.  As a psychotherapist, I help women relieve feelings of shame and move forward through several avenues:  Listening to their stories, supporting them in re-writing their stories, exploring past and/or present trauma and moving forward through Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), Clinical Hypnotherapy and/or Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT).

I know that relieving feelings of shame stemming from trauma is not only possible it is probable.

Women's Lives

I'm very excited to use this blog as a platform for women to share their lives with each other.  Being a psychotherapist I'm privileged hear various women's stories.  Not a day goes by that I don't wish that they could hear each others stories.  Hence, I decided to start a blog.  I hope you will find this helpful and enjoyable.

It's my belief that most of us have some similar challenges. Whether or not we struggle with feelings of anxiety, depression, low self-esteem or fearfulness we are surely not alone.
